Walk Information

March 3rd Walk

Saturday’s Duke Of Edinburgh training walk around Emley has been postponed due to the unsafe weather conditions.

We will advise on the walk’s new date in due course.

For the walk on the 3rd March, we will meet at 9am in front of St. Michael The Archangel’s Church in Emley (HD8 9SF). We will be walking and practising our navigation skills all day so you need to be dressed warmly and bring a pack lunch, snacks and water.

For this first walk, we suggest you just bring a small ruck sack/day bag that can carry your food and drink. You must also bring waterproof trousers and a waterproof coat. Use the weather forecast to help you judge what to wear but be aware it will probably cold and wet underfoot. Gloves and hats are essential.

You must wear walking boots with ankle support for safety.

We aim to finish at 3pm but as we are going on a long walk, it is impossible to predict exactly. What we normally do is get students to text or call home when they are about half an hour from completion. We will text for students who cannot ring or text home.

If there any problems on the day, please contact us on the school mobile on 07512 070933.

Our guidelines say that if there is snow on the ground, we should not take students out on practice walks. In this case, we would contact parents on the morning of the walk to confirm that it is postponed.
