Every year we enter our keenest students into the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust Junior and Intermediate Challenges.  Each time more and more students take part, either because we have seen their interest in tackling a challenge or because they volunteer.

The results are on an upward with students invited to take part in the more selective later rounds of the competition and they always acquit themselves well.  Indeed this year, one of our Y11s achieved the highest score in the follow-up Grey Kangaroo competition.

To prepare for the challenges we have a seasonal UKMT Club which runs for a few weeks before each contest, helping the students build more confidence in the face of some pretty tough problems.  These challenges are open to all – the children just need to talk to their maths teacher.
