In Phase 1 (Year 7 and 8), students develop their literacy skills through the study of a range of literature texts. The main aim of the phase is harbour an enjoyment of learning, discussion and development through the texts that we study, whilst focusing assessment on progressing vital literacy skills.

In Phase 2 (Year 9, 10 and 11), students build on the foundations established at Phase 1 and begin to explore the texts that will be examined at GCSE. At this stage, higher-level skills, such as essay writing, are also focused on so that students are fully prepared for their examinations in English Language and English Literature.

The exam board specification that we use is AQA.
