'Where is the heart of Africa?'
The children in year 3 and 4 have been working on a project on Africa entitled 'Where is the heart of Africa?'
As part of this project there is a REAL outcome - this is to raise money for the toilet twinning charity.
On Saturday 1st April the children will be holding a market stall on the Huddersfield Open Market (9.30 - 4.30).
The children will be running the market stall alongside members of staff from the school and will be selling items that they have made, these include jewellery, various pieces of art work including screen print pictures, canvas paintings, silhouette posters and t-shirts.
Money raised will go to the Toilet Twinning charity. By donating money to twin a toilet they will be helping those in desperate poverty to have access to a proper latrine, clean water and the information they need to be healthy. 2.4 billion people don’t have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo. That’s more than a third of the people on the planet. A toilet at Beech school will as a result becomes the proud owner of a certificate, complete with a colour photo of its twin and GPS coordinates so that they can look up their twin on Google Maps.
