Holocaust Memorial Day
This week to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, we are remembering the terrible events that occurred but also thinking about what it must have been like to carry on if you were one of the people who survived.
In assemblies, we have been looking at the life and works of the writers Primo Levi and Aharon Appelfeld. We have considered how they used writing to cope with the horrendous ordeals they went through.
We also looked at the writings and experiences of Chanrithy Him who survived the Cambodian genocide and wrote about it in her memoirs called When Broken Glass Floats.
