Royds Hall Community School is a successful and over-subscribed school encompassing Royds Hall Secondary, Luck Lane Primary and Beech Primary, catering for approximately 1100 students aged 3 – 16, and with an excellent reputation for innovation and inclusion. Approximately 40 per cent of students are from various ethnic minorities and more than 26 languages and 30 countries are represented in school. Our SEN cohort is significantly above local and national averages. We are proud to have our positive school culture of mutual respect and understanding recognised by students, parents and Ofsted. Specific duties in relation to this post:

To lead the following aspects of provision for student well-being and inclusion across the through school, including

Special Educational Needs

  • Oversight of work and line-management of Primary and Secondary SENCO, specialist teachers and team of teaching assistants

Developing and maintaining provision for positive emotional and mental health for all students,

  • Nurture provision on all three sites
  • Counselling and therapeutic provision
  • Use of Thrive assessment
  • Inclusion unit

Specialist Provision Hub for Speech, Language and Communication Needs,

  • Progress of students who are fully integrated into mainstream classes
  • Outreach work to support many students who continue to be educated in their neighbourhood school

Ethnic Minority Achievement

  • Line-management of the team and oversight of provision
  • Ensuring effective support for students from a wide range of backgrounds, both in and out of the classroom
