Introduction to New Staff
Miss T Millar, Teacher of Performing Arts: I studied Performance at the University of the West of Scotland and completed my teacher training at the University of Huddersfield. I am very interested in the works of Augusto Boal and his concept of the theatre of the oppressed, which looks at oppressed groups and questions the audience's reactions. Besides Drama, I enjoy rugby and before becoming a teacher I played rugby internationally for Ireland which is where I am originally from. I am looking forward to my time teaching at Royds Hall.
Miss R Moon, Teacher of Performing Arts: Hello! I am Miss Moon, one of the new Performing Arts teachers at Royds Hall. I started out my journey studying a degree in Musical Theatre at New College Lanarkshire and then became a professional Musical Theatre Performer. Since then, I have worked as a Talent Agent, freelance choreographer, director and a million more jobs in the Performing Arts Industry. Outside of school life, I love travelling and all things nature. I am also a big foodie who loves trying new cuisines and dishes from around the world! I am super excited to be part of the Royds Hall family and look forward to working with all the wonderful students.

Mrs E Hilling-Smith, Teacher of PE, Health & Social Care & Child Development: I am Mrs Hilling - Smith and I am a Teacher of PE, Health and Social Care and Child Development. When I am not at work, I love to spend time with my two young children and my husband, going on long walks with our dog or watching the mighty Leeds Rhinos! I am really excited to have joined the Royds Hall family and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Miss E Bairstow, Teacher of French: My name is Miss Bairstow, and I'm a new French teacher here at Royds Hall. I'm currently finishing up my PhD in French Studies at St Andrews (remotely, or I'd have a bit of difficulty getting to work!), so soon I'll be going by Dr Bairstow. I was lucky enough to study in Paris during my degree and want to spread the joy I found in exploring French art, culture, and history. I'm passionate about building a love of languages in all students and have discovered lots of infectious enthusiasm in my first week here!
Mrs G Pegg, Educational Teaching Assistant (ARP): I'm Mrs Pegg and I'm one of the new additions to the ARP department at Royds Hall. I previously worked in a specialist school which allowed me to gain experience with lots of wonderful pupils with all different needs.
I enjoy plenty of sports outside of school life, and since COVID, I have become an avid walker which lead me to complete the 3 peaks.
