Mrs E Spry, Deputy Headteacher: Following a period of being unwell and with huge sadness, Mrs Spry has decided to step away from her role at Royds Hall. She has many amazing memories from her 8 years at Royds has loved her time and will miss students, staff and the community dearly. Mrs Spry has had a huge impact at Royds Hall and on the improvements that the school has made. She will be greatly missed by staff and students, and we wish her all the best.

Mr N Kitterick, Head of Year: After 5 and a half years at Royds Hall, Mr Kitterick has moved to a new role at Shelley College. He will be missed by staff and students and has made a huge contribution to the school. He worked tirelessly to provide the best support for the students in his year group and made a huge difference during his time at Royds Hall. We wish him all the best in his new role.

Welcome to Miss K Murray, Head of Year

I started my journey working in Pastoral in 2022 and look forward to continuing to do so as part of the Royds Hall community.

I am committed to supporting the wellbeing, behaviour and progress of each individual, and I am looking forward to building strong relationships with students and families to help every student thrive.

Students with a medical need

At Royds Hall, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority, and having access to the correct medications is essential in case of an emergency.

May we remind you that all student medication, including inhalers and EpiPens, must be brought into school and handed to main reception team as soon as possible. This ensures that we have the necessary provisions in place to support your child’s health and wellbeing whilst they are in our care.

Please ensure that all medication has the pharmacy label intact, including your child’s name. If your child requires a new prescription or their medication has changed, kindly provide the updated details to reception.

If you have any further questions or need to discuss your child’s medical needs, please do not hesitate to contact us on

Brilliant Club Scholars' Graduation

The Brilliant Club had their graduation ceremony at Leeds University last week.

The programme includes students engaging in independent study and critical discussions, and finishes with a 1,500-word final assignment.

The students received top grades for their work, and we are extremely proud of them. Well done!

Huddersfield Fire Station Visit

The students visited Huddersfield Fire Station and were a real credit to themselves and to the school.

The students worked well together to problem solve and encouraged each other to keep going.

At first, they lacked resilience, but they found the energy to continue even when they were getting tired from all the lifting and the heat!
