Careers Information & Destinations

Careers advice, information and guidance underpins everything we do at Royds Hall, whether it is student leadership, teaching and learning or the pastoral structure, our core message is ‘what skills, qualities and attitudes are you developing to succeed in the world of work?’

We want every child to leave our family prepared for a life in modern Britain and learn to thrive on new challenges and raise their aspirations, whether that is through higher education or the work route.  All advice, information and guidance is tailored to individual needs and based up on current labour market information to ensure students are informed of the best possible options for them.  See below for our comprehensive careers programme.

In careers we appreciate some students will need more help and support than others to make a successful transition on leaving year 11. We therefore work closely in school with the SEN staff, Learning Mentors and Heads of Year to help to offer appropriate support to students.

Our careers adviser in school works with students in years 8 – 11 providing career – related and impartial information, advice and guidance; helping with career planning and signposting students to a range of support services for young people.

We offer a drop-in service for any student at break or lunchtime where they can come along to request an appointment or ask a quick question.

If parents / carers would like to attend careers meetings or have questions, please do not hesitate to phone our admin team who will arrange this for you.

We are constantly reviewing our careers provision and looking at new ways to support our students with their goals and aspirations.

Our careers programme and policies are continuously reviewed to ensure we are meeting all statutory responsibilities and ensuring our students have the best possible information and advice on their future goals. We measure the impact of our service through our destination data, student voice and parent voice. You will find links to the results of both our parent voice and student voice here on our website.  The destination figures will be available as soon as the official data is published.

Careerometer

Careerometer can be used to explore and compare key information about occupations, help you learn about different occupations and identify potential careers. It provides access to a selection of UK headline data relating to pay, weekly hours of work and future employment prospects for different occupations, as well as description of the occupation. Simply type in the title of the job you are interested in and the widget provides a series of options from which you can select the most relevant to you. You can then look up another two occupations and compare. You can also select ‘display the UK average’ and compare the information with the occupation you have selected.
