Proud staff and pupils at Royds Hall and Luck Lane Primary are celebrating the 2023 Ofsted inspection report which recognises the hard work of staff, pupils, governors and trustees along with the support of parents and families. The report is fantastic news for the community and it adds to the growing reputation that Royds Hall and Luck Lane primary are experiencing in the local community.

The inspection, which took place over two days, assessed the school's performance in a number of areas, including the quality of education provided and how pupils are supported to achieve well, how well the Academy supports pupils’ personal development, the behaviour of pupils, early years provision and the leadership of management of the school which includes safeguarding processes.   The ‘good’ rating was awarded overall and across all categories.

The report states that: “staff have a strong commitment to helping children and pupils do as well as they can”, “the curriculum is ambitious and well delivered by teachers and teaching assistants”, “pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported throughout the school and achieve well”.

The good behaviour of pupils is also acknowledged by inspectors.  The report comments that “children’s behaviour in the early years is of a high standard. This is also the case for pupils in the primary phase. In the secondary phase the large majority of pupils consistently behave well.” Pupils benefit from a wide range of opportunities including; “Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Speakers Trust”, whilst in the primary phase, “pupils enjoy their ‘balance-ability’ sessions and ‘break the rules’ day in aid of charity.”

The report highlights the school's commitment to providing a broad and balanced curriculum, as well as its commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for its pupils, recognising that there is a strong culture of safeguarding at the school. In addition, “staff are proud to work at the school.”

Mrs Carr (Executive Principal) said, “We are delighted to officially announce that the inspection team rated Royds Hall and Luck Lane primary overall as a ‘Good’ school. We are exceptionally proud of what our staff and pupils have achieved in the last five years. Whilst the outcome doesn’t change the way we work, it provides further evidence of the very positive journey of improvement we are on. We will continue to focus on what matters for our pupils and community and ensure that our pupils leave school fully equipped with the life skills, experiences and educational outcomes to enjoy a happy and successful future.”
