Day 1

After an early morning get up (some of us having to get up at 5:30!), we finally got on our minibus from school at 8 o’clock. A few of us managed to catch a bit of sleep before arriving at the very busy departure lounge of Manchester Airport! Some of us hadn’t flown before, so we were a bit nervous but really excited at the same time! After going through security, where one of us forgot to take perfume out of our hand luggage, we finally made it onto the plane! We strapped ourselves in, ready for takeoff! The engines roared into action and we were off! The views from the plane were amazing! The flight lasted about 1 hour and we came into land over an amazing beach where we could see lots of people sun bathing and surfing!

After a short coach journey from Newquay airport, we arrived at Helston Community College, where we were given some much needed food and drink. We then had a quick tour of their school. In the words of Miss Bland “It’s huge and they even have astro turf!”. We then went to our accommodation and had a lovely walk round the coastal village we are staying in. Our accommodation has a games room with a pool table and a massive connect four. There are even some Tippee tents which we are going to use tomorrow  The stars shine really bright down here as there is no street lights around, so hopefully we will see some shooting stars at night!

Tomorrow we will be going to the town of Portleaven, where we are going to try some cornish pasties and have fish and chips by the sea. We are also having a music lesson at Helston Community College and our primary students are having a look round some nearby primary schools!

We are having a great time! It’s amazing to think that some of us haven’t even see the sea or flown before today!
