Whole School Celebration

Added: July 11th, 2017

On Thursday 29th June we held our annual Whole-School Celebration to award prizes to students for their hard work and dedication over the year.

This year was exceptional with over 300 students receiving awards. Awards were presented for excellent effort leading to progress across the full range of subject studies in school – a truly ‘growth mindset’ approach! There were also awards for overall progress and community prizes under the Cooperative Values. Senior Students from our new Year 11 were named along with the new Head Girl, Head Boy and their senior team.

There were also other special awards for contributions to school life. Our special guests for the day were, Neil Clephan, Director of School Improvement for the Red Kite Trust, a National Leader in Education and Former Headteacher of Roundhay all-through school in Leeds, in the morning and Simon Lett, Principle of Greenhead College. The usual, very strong feature of this event was the way it was run by our students. They led the whole programme, introducing guests, announcing awards and keeping things to time – not an easy task!

Over 200 family members and supporters attended this wonderful day. We also presented an award to Pauline Potter, a member of associate staff for her further studies in working with student with dyslexia. Keith fielding a long-serving Governor and former student was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the school and thanked for all that he has done to mark his retirement from the Governing Body.
