Students visit Huddersfield University

Added: June 26th, 2018

Students from our Trust partner schools who are involved in the Aspire 2 Uni project were invited to the University of Huddersfield to take part in an action packed day. They were greeted by Ruth and Sarah, the two University staff members who are running the project as well as a group of University Student Ambassadors who helped out on the day.

They started off with lots of team games including badminton, hockey and football getting them all working together and offering them a chance to see the facilities that are available within a University setting. The day finished with a ‘graduation ceremony’ to celebrate all that they have achieved over the last year. All the students are now in Year 6 so this was a great opportunity for them to let off steam and to think about their next steps into secondary schools.

It is very interesting to see how the children are becoming comfortable within the University surroundings and are starting to think about whether they would like to go to University in the future. We will look forward to following their journey into Year 7 at Royds and to see what they get up to with the Aspire 2 Uni project.
