Royds and Beech have a fantastic time at Girls Active!

Added: June 18th, 2018

Years 5,6 and 7 from Beech and Royds attended this girl focused event at Deighton Arena.

It was a full day dedicated to encouraging more girls to participate in, enjoy and lead the way for more sports and physical activity. The girls had a brilliant time smashing boundaries and finding confidence. They have come back to school with some plans to put in place to spread the word and tackle boundaries girls face when it comes to taking part in sport. Let’s see what they’ve come up with!

Staff in attendance had a full day of training about ways to keep girls active – the tiny percentage of girls reaching the daily recommended activity levels show that there is an urgent need to listen to these girls and try to change their negative perceptions of sport and PE. Physical activity is vital to a healthy lifestyle so let’s continue working towards evening out the playing field.
