Uganda Art Exhibition

Added: June 10th, 2015

This summer ex Royds Hall student, Uriah Gabriel is travelling to Uganda to volunteer at a school for a month, working with East African Playgrounds to help build a playground for the students.

East African Playground is a charity hoping to give all children access to safe play areas where they can have the opportunity to learn and develop through play. This aspect of play has been an important part of the work in this exhibition, with students encouraged to let go of all notions of art as simply drawing and painting and instead make something fantastical from a range of materials in a variety of exercises, some stranger than others! This recaptures some of that playful nature that we have as children and lose as we grow up.
