Well done to all of our excellent performing arts students who performed at the Arts Showcase last Wednesday! The audience feedback has been incredible and we are so proud of you all! Thank you to Ukulele Club, Band Skills Junior, Band Skills Senior, the cast of Guys and Dolls and the BTEC Performing Arts Acting and Music students who performed.

On March 12th, Royds Hall students took part in the Music for Youth Huddersfield Regional Festival. Music for Youth is the largest youth music festival in the world and it was the first time ever that the school had groups represented. The choir, expertly conducted by Mr Lewis our singing teacher, sang three songs including a well-known number from our upcoming musical Guys and Dolls. In addition to the choir, our Band Skills Senior Group performed for the first time outside of school. Their unique versions of ‘Riptide’ and ‘Use Somebody’ were extremely well received by the enthusiastic audience.

We are delighted that having received a very positive adjudication on the day, both groups have been selected to represent the school in the National Festival of Music for Youth which will happen in Birmingham at the beginning of July. This is a superb achievement, particularly given that the groups had never entered before. Well done Choir and Band Skills Senior!
