Pedal for Pounds

Added: April 3rd, 2014

Last year Royds Hall as part of their work with Huddersfield Town organised their own Pedal for Pounds event. Initially the aim was to get a group of staff to get involved in the event but, it was decided to make it a whole school event / community challenge with the focus on getting as many people involved as possible. The event involved 600 staff and students and raised nearly £2000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the club academy.

This year, as well as competing in a inter community event, the challenge has been widened to include three other schools. This year the students will also be competing against Holmfirth High, Westborough High and North Huddersfield Trust School to complete the Chapman Trail distance in the fastest time possible. The challenge involves pedalling the distance on static bikes from the Emirates Stadium to Cambridge then to Leicester followed by Doncaster and finishes at the John Smiths Stadium. In total it is a distance of 250 miles.

Huddersfield Town through the work of Club ambassador Andy Booth and Robyn Deegan have fully supported the event providing prizes for the winning school and the top fundraiser in each school. It is hoped we will raise over £5000 between the schools for this fantastic cause.
