Holocaust Memorial Day 2014

Added: January 31st, 2014

Students from Royds Hall took part in the Holocaust Memorial Day event at Huddersfield Town Hall. During the event, it was announced that the “6 million+” Holocaust memorial will be permanently located at Huddersfield University.

In preparation for this, community groups across Kirklees were invited to join a project to create a piece of art work using the buttons that will later become part of the exhibition. Royds Hall students used the information they had gathered from meeting Trude and Zofi, two holocaust survivors to produce a thought provoking table top sculpture from the buttons.

The students all spoke at the event and shared their thoughts with all the people present in the Concert hall, speaking with confidence on issues surrounding the Holocaust and the actions we must take to prevent further atrocities.
