700 Poppies Made by Students

Over 700 poppies were made by students of Royds Hall in their art lessons as part of the Globe Arts remembrance project. These poppies along with many others created by the community of Slaithwaite are exhibited at Globe Arts studio.

Mr Lightowler shared the story of Thomas Sheerman in assembly this week. Thomas was looked after here at Royds when the school was a hospital during WW1.

Students visit Etihad to watch Champions League game

17 students went to watch Manchester City last night win 6-0 in the Champions League. They all had a great time!

DofE Walk/Training Information

DofE Walk/Training Update:

  • If you have paid your deposit, you should have had an email to set up your eDofE profile. Please set it up. If you have any problems, please see Mr Woffenden.
  • Next walk is on 17th November starting again from St. Michael’s Church in Emley (HD8 9SF) at 9am. Waterproofs and boots are essential.
  • Next training session will be Thursday 15th from 3 – 4:30pm. Meet in the Deli Bar.
  • This is for both bronze and silver students.

Year 9 students have been cooking their way through the nutrients. Today they made a range of oatmeal biscuits and flapjack which are rich in vitamin B – delicious!

45 very tired but excited students boarded the coach at 2-45 am to start the journey to Paris. A Seine cruise, visit to Sacre Coeur and the Eiffel Tower are planned before spending the day at Euro Disney.
