Humanities
Humanities is made up of History, Geography and RE.
"I love teaching Geography because it is the key to our future!" - Ms Haigh
"Teaching RE at Royds Hall has given me greater satisfaction than that experienced when teaching History, English and French at other schools. Why? It's about real life! Every aspect of life from birth to death and the afterlife is covered. It deals with the physical, the meta-physical, the moral and the spiritual – the whole being. RE engenders empathy, respect, compassion and a greater understanding of others. There are no right or wrong answers, it’s about one’s own beliefs and being able to justify them." - Mrs Allen
"The reason I love teaching Humanities is that it is all about linking different things together. We look into different areas to help understand ourselves and our environment. A person and a society are such complex creations and Humanities helps us to unravel all the different features that have formed these creations. It is then all about seeing how all these features are interlinked. For example, you can't try to understand the history of a country without understanding its religions, its geography and the rules that make up its society. Humanities is all about doing that." - Mr Woffenden
"I love teaching History because is captures the imagination of students. It teaches us valuable lessons about life and reminds us that every single person can make a difference. To know who you are and where you came from can shape your future." - Mrs Canetti
