LEADER OF LEARNING:

Miss Diane P Barker:

Good (and bad) design is something that affects all of us. As a designer I'm continually challenged by the possibilities of visual communication. As a teacher I'm thrilled to be able share my subject and my enthusiasm for it with dynamic, inquisitive and positive young minds.

The Design & Technology Department is the area of the school curriculum where design's multiple aspects and possibilities can be explained, shared and explored. Good creative thinking and solid, practical imagination is something all students can achieve. And I feel privileged to be part of that process.

Seeing students proud of what they have achieved and enabling them to achieve their potential is the reason I first became a teacher and why I continue each day to be the best inspiration to them I can be.

I am very passionate about Resistant Materials because I feel it is great way for the students to learn and build up life skills. Its fantastic seeing the students get out what they put into this growing and fascinating subject. The new inspiring projects help the students develop their skills in a many ways, which can be shared with other subjects. It's a great subject with all the pupils thoroughly enjoying themselves in every lesson.
