Diversity Week

Royds Hall is participating in the national Diversity Week organised by Just Like Us. We are having lessons celebrating diversity and having speakers coming in to visit the school.


West Yorkshire Athletics Championships

On Saturday 11th June two students from Royds Hall were selected to represent Kirklees at the West Yorkshire Athletics Championships. Louis was competing in the 100m and Abby in the 200m.


School Visit to Pembroke College, Oxford

A former Royds Hall Community School student who graduated from Pembroke College, Oxford with a degree in Economics and Management hosted a group of current students and their parents on a visit to Oxford University.


Students Discuss the EU on Radio 2

New head girl Martha Hughes and head boy Umair Afzal were on Radio 2 this week. Invited to speak about the European Union on Jeremy Vine's Show, Martha argued forcefully why Britain should leave the EU while Umair convincingly spoke of how Britain was stronger inside the union.


Drumming Workshop

On Monday 16th May, Jeff Rich who was one of the drummers in the band Status Quo, joined us to deliver a workshop. He demonstrated his amazing drumming skills to the students and took them through the history of how the drum has developed over the years.


Rocket Space Seeds!

Fears of mutant salad leaves taking over Royds Hall Community school have been allayed, as the Rocket Seeds from Space planted by Year 9 have started to sprout normally.


Team Agers Celebrate Over Dinner

The Team Ager students who have been taking part in the inter-generational project for the last term joined the Team Agers from Sycamore Grange for a celebratory dinner party at the Toby Carvery.


Primary Children Welcome Their New Dog Friend, Ruby!

Following our appeal for dogs and their owners to come forward as Pets as Therapy volunteers we recently welcomed Heather and Ruby, her adorable dog.
