Year 11 Academic Tutorial Week
Year 11 Academic Tutorial – week commencing Monday 16th March 2009
Dear Parent/Carer
You will be shortly contacted by your son/daughter’s form tutor to arrange a meeting between yourselves, your child and the form tutor. The Academic Tutorial will take place in school, between the hours of 8.45am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday at a time agreed between yourselves and your child’s form tutor. The meeting, which lasts between thirty minutes and one hour, allows parents, students and form tutors an opportunity to discuss fully any issues or areas of concern, celebrate student progress and set targets for the coming year. This new system has replaced the focus day events we have had in the past.
During the meeting the form tutor will discuss the data presented to you, will explain what it means in terms of achievement and what steps will need to be taken to move forward and achieve your child’s potential. It is therefore vital that parents attend the academic tutorial as we appreciate how much you value your child’s education, and the importance of home and school working together to maximise your child’s chances of reaching his/her potential.
In order to allow staff to complete the academic tutorials, we will be operating a slightly different day on Friday 20th March when lessons will be condensed to 40 minutes rather than the usual 50 minutes and the school will close at 1.00pm. Students who are entitled to a free school meal will be able to collect a packed lunch from the dining room at 1.00pm.
